Invisalign® FAQs
Compassionate Dental Care provides answers to Invisalign® FAQs below.
We’ll start by giving you a FREE consultation to see how much straightening your teeth need, and if Invisalign® aligners can work for your smile. Clear aligners don’t work for all smiles, so we need to make sure you are eligible for this system. Once you are approved we’ll take impressions of your smile so we can create a customized plan to straighten your smile.
The Invisalign® system uses a series of clear aligner trays that will each move your teeth to a new position until you’ve achieved your beautiful straight smile. We’ll send our impressions of your teeth to our nearest Invisalign® laboratories where your set of clear aligners will be created.
When you get your aligners, you’ll come into our office so our Invisalign® dentists can assure they fit properly and comfortably.
After that, we’ll send you home with your sets of Invisalign® aligners and you’ll switch them out every couple weeks. You’ll know you need to switch your aligners when the set you’re wearing fits perfectly and no longer feels like it’s pressuring your teeth to move. Our doctors will give you specific directions on how long this should be for your treatment.
Depending on the amount of work your teeth need to align into a perfectly straight, beautiful smile, you could be working with Invisalign® clear aligners anywhere from a few months to a year. The entire process, start to finish, depends on you and how diligently you wear your aligners.
You’ll be responsible for wearing your Invisalign aligners as much as possible so that your teeth will move into their proper position faster. For maximum effectiveness, we recommend that you wear your aligners at least 22 hours each day.
You won’t be dealing with uncomfortable metal brackets that rub on soft tissues or painful jabbing wires that poke the back of your mouth. Without those added difficulties of traditional braces, most patients find that Invisalign clear braces are vastly preferable to traditional braces.
Plus, the Invisalign treatment process is generally much faster than a traditional orthodontic treatment. Once your teeth are straightened, you’ll be able to smile, laugh, and communicate with a newfound confidence—all thanks to your beautifully straightened teeth with Invisalign clear teeth aligners.
Crooked teeth are difficult to clean. Teeth that are overlapping or out of alignment can make it hard for you and for dental professionals to keep your teeth completely clean and free of potential disease and decay.
By straightening your teeth, your at-home teeth cleaning routine can be more effective in keeping your teeth and whole mouth clean and healthy. Straighter teeth are easier to keep clean and free of bacteria that could develop into serious infections. These types of infections can lead to gum disease and tooth loss, ultimately even affecting your overall health.
In addition to poor hygiene, crooked teeth can also prevent your teeth from biting down in the proper place. When your teeth aren’t aligned properly, it can cause extra wear and tear on your teeth when you bite down and chew on your food—problems that wouldn’t happen otherwise if they were straight.
Invisalign clear aligners solve both the issue of cleanliness and misaligned teeth. Through consistent pressure placed on your teeth by Invisalign aligners, your smile can be saved from the dangers of disease, decay, wear, tear, and many other problems of having crooked teeth.
The price you pay for an Invisalign smile gives you not only straighter teeth, but a healthier, happier smile and greater overall health and confidence to show off those pearly whites. Invisalign results truly do speak for themselves.
If you aren’t consistent about wearing your retainer, there’s a possibility your teeth will revert to their original positions and you’ll need treatment all over again!
